Hello and welcome to the Universal Conscious Practice community. Good to see you here, and let's see if we can't get some decent discussion going on the Practice - and some decent posts which can show newbies what it's all about, and how it can be useful!

I'd like to get the ball rolling by inviting comment on the following insight which came at the endpoint of a half-hour session I did last night:

Being who I really am is unsafe. But being someone else makes me feel suffocated and angry.

Discuss.

KP developed the chart, certainly, by roping together a whole bunch of Scientology-derived scales. The origins of those scales should be enough to make anyone sceptical. :) Certainly, it's a big PR problem for relatively sane persons to mention that the practice has any relation whatsoever with The Thriving Cult of Greed and Power.

So, do you have any way of measuring your progress?

Sure. I can see where he got the scales from. The scales are OK as a rough map. There are lots of practices that these days that relate to the CofS - or rather their drills and processes, including Landmark as possibly the largest and most successful example.

Personally it doesn't bother me. A lot of the early 'tech' is extremely useful.

As I said, I've used UCP so infrequently until now that I've simply used my feelings and intuition as a guide to 'where I'm at'

Landmark seems pretty creepy to me, and it's clearly a money-making scheme.

Yeah, what darthsappho said. "Most successful" often means "most successful as a moneymaking scheme" - that is, mostly a mind control cult.

UCP is better than any moneymaking scheme because it's free - both in the as-in-speech sense and the as-in-beer sense. Hey, maybe UCP is to orthodox psychotherapy what Linux is to Microsoft. :)

Landmark

I did 'The Forum' some 15 years ago and it didn't really do it for me. I had a kind of 'workshop high' for about a week.

However, I know that it has been streamlined since then. I have a few friends (2 of who are ex-CofS) who had reall good wins at both The Forum and subsequent workshops. They are hip to the fact that these organisations can get pretty demanding as far as recruiting is concerned, but it doesn't faze them.

Sadly, it's a fact that these types of organisations have money making as one of their primay goals.

However, need that concern us? We have UCP and plenty of other free stuff available on the Net.
